timezones · Jun 2, 08:08 am

there has to be a better way to manage time zone information. yesterday i flew from mst to pst in the morning – and had a conference call from philadelphia while i drove to my meeting. it was a really weird experience to have that much variation in time zone. i have clients in the west and the east, and have to keep track of what time it is in each when i commit to a deadline.

i’m actually considering getting a little time-zone clock or setting up my dashboard with multiple clocks from many time zones. this week i’m in vancouver – and it’s weird to make calls to the east – last week i was in montreal and i was getting emails until 8:30pm from clients expecting a business day response.

i like having a wide client base, but understanding where i am in time and where my clients are is starting to become a lot to manage.

IronBike 09

had another great ride through the mountains this year – 240km over 2 mountain passes.

i had a great support team this year – on and off the bike and managed to peddle the entire distance.

thanks to all my supporters and to everyone who wished me safe thoughts.

$11 house · Oct 23, 09:22 pm

one of the best things i’ve seen in a while is the $11 house website. my friend david has poured his last 2 years into renovating a house to bring it from a condemned wreck up to a luxuriously livable space.

hearing about some of the fantastic qualities of this abode i would be delighted to live there.

you can win this house if you pay the $11 entry fee and write a compelling essay about why you should be the winner.

i love this idea because it involves an essay – and it’s so affordable.

i know david has spent 2 years of his life (and his family’s) making this a wonderful place to live – so even if you want to support this idea – enter to win.

it just might be you.

monday i go to bolivia · Oct 18, 04:04 pm

so in a few days i’m jumping on a plane and heading off to bolivia. i think i’m spending 17 hours in travel. i fly to toronto, then to santa cruz, brazil (300ft above sea level) then to cochabamba (6000 ft above sea level) then over the two weeks i’m in bolivia we’ll travel up to potosi (14,000ft) then down to la paz (12,000ft) to fly back to toronto.

i’ll keep a ‘nose bleed’ tally.

while i’m there we’ll be meeting the people of bolivia and building relationships so we can provide support once we’re back in canada.

stay tuned for more updates.

jasper to lake louise · Sep 8, 08:00 am

starting about now i’ll be hefting myself up onto the saddle and pointing my bike towards lake louise. starting in jasper.

my goal is to ride 220km in one day with 2 mountain passes between me and my destination.

the terrain

this image shows the trip in the opposite direction. this trip also breaks it up into a sane 7 day trip.

i’ll take some snaps as i ride and post them so you can see how it all went.
